Gareth is sponsored by our awesome long term Blue Sponsor Kia ora . . . or as we like to say where I’m from ‘ey up’! I love to help people experience child-like joy though laughter yoga and uplifting songs. I entertain and inspire as an MC, presenter and workshop facilitator at conferences, events and festivals. Born and bred in Manchester, UK to Scottish and English parents I studied piano and guitar in my childhood and soon began writing my own music and songs. When I moved to New Zealand I started performing at cafes and bars in Auckland and also became a regular MC and Keynote presenter at conferences and events. After 10 years in Auckland I moved with my family to a perma-culture lifestyle farm in Raglan and set up a home studio and began recording my songs. I have completed two albums and a Christmas single ‘Time of Cheer’ that got to Number 4 in the iTunes Charts. I trained in Laughter Yoga, a simple and accessible form of yoga with many health benefits that helps people access their inner joy and bond with others. It’s the antidote to the stresses and strains of modern living! I love to blend the laughter yoga with my uplifting songs to co-create a session I call PlayTime – a safe space to experience and express joy. Over the last year I’ve travelled up and down New Zealand running PlayTime sessions with over a thousand people from all walks of life. Laughter, singing and dancing are shortcuts to happiness and I’ve shared them at conferences, festivals, conventions, community and corporate events. Over the next year I am taking PlayTime overseas, recording a comedy album and writing a book entitled ‘The Little Book of Things You Probably Already Know and Sometimes Need Reminding Of’.
